Possible Causes
Uneven load distribution across phases, Short circuit on one phase, Faulty current transformer (CT), Loose phase conductor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the generator from the load via the transfer switch. Only qualified personnel should work inside live panels.
- Inspect load distribution: Review which circuits are on each phase. Move large single-phase loads to balance phases as evenly as possible.
- Check for shorts: Use an insulation tester or multimeter to check for line-to-neutral or line-to-ground shorts on the affected phase.
- Inspect CT wiring: Locate the current transformers feeding the controller. Ensure they are correctly oriented and that secondary wiring is tight and undamaged.
- Tighten terminals: Tighten all phase and neutral connections in the generator terminal box and ATS.
- Reset and test: Clear E18 and reapply load gradually while monitoring phase currents.
