Possible Causes
Shorted or open temperature, pressure, or voltage sensor, Incorrect sensor type installed, Damaged sensor harness, Controller input failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator and disconnect the battery negative cable. Allow the engine to cool before touching sensors on the block or head.
- Identify affected sensor: Consult the WEN controller manual to determine which sensor is associated with E19 (e.g., coolant temp, oil pressure, intake air temp).
- Inspect sensor and wiring: Locate the sensor on the engine or alternator. Check the connector for corrosion, bent pins, or loose fit. Inspect the harness for chafing or cuts.
- Test sensor resistance or voltage: Using the WEN service specifications, measure the sensor's resistance or output voltage at ambient temperature. Replace the faulty sensor if readings are out of range.
- Check harness continuity: Measure continuity from the sensor connector back to the controller plug. Repair or replace any open or shorted wires.
- Controller input check: If the sensor and wiring are good, the controller's analog input may be defective. Replace the control board if necessary.
