Generator is excessively loud or produces unusual knocking, rattling, or metallic noises during operation.

Safety first: Turn OFF the generator and disconnect the battery negative cable. Allow moving parts to stop completely before touching anything inside the enclosure.

• Inspect mounts and hardware: Check all visible engine and alternator mounting bolts on the WEN base frame. Tighten any loose fasteners to the torque specified in the service manual.
• Check vibration isolators: Examine rubber engine mounts for cracks, separation, or collapse. Replace any damaged engine mount isolators.
• Inspect exhaust system: Ensure the muffler, exhaust pipe, and heat shields are securely fastened. Tighten loose clamps and replace broken hangers.
• Listen for internal knock: If a deep metallic knock persists and changes with engine load, internal engine wear or damage may be present. Do not continue running the unit; have a qualified technician inspect the engine.
