Possible Causes
Gummed jets from stale fuel, Dirty carburetor bowl, Clogged idle circuit, Maladjusted mixture screw
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, close the fuel shutoff valve, and disconnect the battery negative cable. Work in a well‑ventilated area away from flames.
- Drain old fuel: If the unit has sat for months, drain the fuel tank and carburetor bowl. Refill with fresh fuel of the type specified by WEN.
- Clean carburetor bowl: Remove the carburetor bowl drain plug or the bowl itself. Catch fuel in an approved container. Clean the bowl and main jet with carburetor cleaner and compressed air.
- Inspect jets and passages: Remove the main jet and emulsion tube if accessible. Soak in carb cleaner and blow out all holes. Do not enlarge jet orifices.
- Replace gaskets if needed: If the bowl gasket is brittle or damaged, install a new carburetor gasket kit.
- Reassemble and test: Reinstall the bowl, open the fuel valve, check for leaks, and start the generator. Allow it to warm up and verify stable operation under load.
