Possible Causes
Loose drain plug, Leaking oil filter seal, Crankcase gasket failure, Worn crankshaft seal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, disconnect the battery negative cable, and allow the engine to cool. Clean up spilled oil promptly to avoid slipping hazards.
- Locate leak source: Wipe down the engine with a clean rag and then run briefly while observing for fresh oil. Shut down immediately once the source is identified.
- Check drain plug and filter: Tighten the oil drain plug and oil filter to the specified torque. Replace the oil filter if its seal is damaged.
- Inspect gaskets and seals: Look for oil seeping from the crankcase cover, valve cover, or crankshaft seals. Replace the crankcase gasket or crankshaft seal if leaking.
- Refill and monitor: Top up engine oil to the correct level and monitor over several run cycles for recurrence.
