Possible Causes
Loose fuel line fittings, Cracked fuel hose, Leaking carburetor or regulator, Faulty fuel shutoff valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, close the fuel supply (shutoff valve or LP tank), and disconnect the battery negative cable. Do not smoke or create sparks near the unit.
- Inspect fuel lines: Follow all visible fuel hoses from the tank or gas supply to the engine. Look for wet spots, cracks, or soft hoses. Replace any damaged fuel hose with fuel‑rated line.
- Check fittings and clamps: Tighten hose clamps and threaded fittings carefully. Do not overtighten plastic components.
- Examine carburetor/regulator: Look for fuel seepage around the carburetor bowl gasket, needle valve, or gas regulator. Replace leaking gaskets or the gas regulator if its vent is wet with fuel.
- Leak test: After repairs, open the fuel supply and use a leak detection solution (soapy water) on joints. Bubbles indicate leaks that must be corrected before operation.
