Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Gas leaks are extremely dangerous. If you smell gas, evacuate the area and contact your gas supplier or emergency services. Do not operate the generator until leaks are ruled out.
- Verify gas valves: Check all manual gas shutoff valves from the meter or tank to the generator. Handles should be parallel to the pipe when open.
- Check LP tank level: For propane systems, confirm that the tank has sufficient fuel. Arrange for a refill if low.
- Inspect regulator: Examine the primary and secondary gas regulators for frost buildup, physical damage, or blocked vent screens. Clear debris carefully; do not modify regulator settings.
- Confirm pipe sizing: Compare your gas line size and length to the Westinghouse installation manual. Undersized piping can cause low pressure under load and trigger E11.
- Professional pressure test: Have a licensed gas technician measure static and dynamic gas pressure at the generator inlet while starting. Correct any supply issues before further operation.
Do not attempt to adjust gas regulators yourself; this must be done by qualified personnel.
