Possible Causes
Loose oil filter, loose drain plug, damaged crankcase gasket, overfilled oil level causing breather discharge
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn controller to OFF, open main AC breaker, and allow engine to cool before touching hot surfaces.
- Locate leak source: Wipe down the engine and then run briefly to see where fresh oil appears (technician-level). Common points are the oil filter, drain plug, and valve cover gasket.
- Tighten filter and plug: Hand-tighten the oil filter an additional 1/4–1/2 turn if loose. Snug the drain plug with a wrench, avoiding overtightening.
- Check oil level: Ensure oil is not overfilled above the FULL mark, which can force oil out of the breather.
- Replace gaskets if needed: If leaks persist at gaskets, replace the affected gasket (e.g., valve cover) using OEM parts.
