Controller displays E08 / LOW AC VOLTAGE while running, and the generator may drop load or shut down.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Open the generator output breaker and main service disconnect. Use extreme caution when working near live AC terminals.
- Verify load: Confirm that the total connected load does not exceed the Winco generator kW rating. Reduce or shed nonessential loads and retest.
- Inspect connections: With power off and locked out, check all lugs in the generator terminal block and transfer switch for tightness and signs of overheating.
- Check AVR connections: Locate the automatic voltage regulator (AVR) in the generator control compartment. Inspect its plug and wiring harness for loose or burned connectors.
- Measure no-load voltage: Start the generator in MANUAL with no load and measure line-to-line and line-to-neutral voltages. If low even with no load, suspect the AVR or stator.
AVR and stator testing typically require a technician with proper instruments. Do not adjust AVR settings without the Winco service procedure.
