Possible Causes
Empty or shut-off fuel supply, Fouled spark plug, Weak battery causing slow crank speed, Clogged fuel filter or carburetor (if gasoline model)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disable AUTO and ensure the generator cannot start unexpectedly. Turn off fuel if working on fuel components.
- Verify fuel and valves: Confirm LP/NG valves are open and tank has fuel. For gasoline models, check fuel level and that the fuel shutoff valve is open.
- Check battery and crank speed: If cranking is slow, charge or replace the battery and clean terminals.
- Inspect spark plug: Remove and inspect the spark plug. Clean or replace if fouled.
- Fuel delivery: For carbureted units, ensure the fuel filter is not clogged and that fuel reaches the carburetor. For gaseous units, verify gas pressure at the regulator.
If the engine still will not start with good fuel, spark, and compression, further diagnosis of ignition and fuel systems is needed.
