Possible Causes
Low coolant in radiator or overflow tank, Leaking hose or radiator, Faulty coolant level sensor, Loose radiator cap
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the engine to cool completely before opening the cooling system. Hot coolant under pressure can cause serious burns.
- Check coolant level: Remove the radiator cap when cool and verify coolant is at the proper level. Top up with Yamaha-approved coolant mixture.
- Inspect for leaks: Examine hoses, clamps, radiator core, and water pump area for signs of dried coolant or wet spots. Tighten clamps or replace leaking components.
- Check overflow tank: Ensure the overflow reservoir has coolant between MIN and MAX marks. A cracked reservoir can cause level sensor faults.
- Test coolant level sensor: If coolant level is correct, test the level sensor in the radiator or tank for proper operation and replace if faulty.
- Reset and test: Clear E16 and run the generator while monitoring coolant level and for any new leaks.
