Possible Causes

Insufficient gas supply pressure, Blocked gas regulator or filter, Frozen regulator due to moisture, Faulty fuel pressure sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, shut off gas supply at the main valve, and ventilate the area. Do not smoke or use open flames near gas.

  • Verify gas supply: Confirm that the main gas valve is open and that other gas appliances in the building are functioning normally.
  • Check regulator and piping: Inspect the Yamaha-supplied gas regulator and piping for icing, damage, or kinks. Thaw ice naturally; do not use open flame.
  • Clean or replace gas filter: If equipped, service the gas filter upstream of the regulator.
  • Test fuel pressure sensor: With gas supply restored and using a manometer, verify inlet pressure at the generator matches Yamaha specifications. If actual pressure is correct but E17 persists, test and replace the fuel pressure sensor.
  • Clear code and test: After restoring proper pressure, clear E17 and run the generator under load.
