Possible Causes

Main circuit breaker tripped, Loose output lugs in alternator terminal box, Disconnected wiring to transfer switch, Failed main breaker

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate the generator from the building via the transfer switch. Turn OFF the generator and lock out the main breaker if possible.

  • Check main breaker: Locate the generator's main AC breaker and ensure it is in the ON position. Reset if tripped.
  • Inspect terminal box: Open the alternator terminal box and check that all output cables are securely tightened to their lugs. Tighten any loose connections to the torque specified by Yamaha.
  • Verify continuity to ATS: At the transfer switch, confirm that generator input cables are properly landed and tight.
  • Replace faulty breaker: If the breaker will not reset or feels loose, replace it with the correct Yamaha-specified breaker.
