Washer-dryer combo displays dU and will not start or unlock properly.

Safety first: Unplug the unit before attempting to manually unlock or service the door lock.

• Wait for automatic unlock: After the cycle ends, wait 1–3 minutes to allow the door lock to cool and release. Do not force the door.
• Power reset: Disconnect power for 1 minute, then restore power and try to unlock again using the control panel.
• Manual release: On many Amana combo units, there is a manual release tab near the door lock behind the front panel or boot. With power off, gently pull the tab to release the door.
• Inspect latch and strike: Check for bent metal, broken plastic, or foreign objects around the latch area that could prevent unlocking. Remove obstructions.
• Test door lock assembly: Access the door lock as per the service manual. Check for mechanical binding and test the unlock solenoid and switches with a multimeter. Replace the door lock assembly if defective.
• Check control signals: If the lock tests good, the main control board may not be sending the unlock signal. Inspect wiring and consider control board diagnosis by a professional.
