Possible Causes

Clogged drain pump filter, Blocked drain hose, Failed drain pump motor, Obstruction in tub-to-pump hose

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit and be prepared for water spillage when opening the drain system.

  • Access pump filter: Many Amana combo units have a service panel at the front bottom. Open it and locate the drain pump filter cap. Place towels or a shallow pan underneath.
  • Clean filter: Slowly unscrew the filter cap to allow water to drain. Remove lint, coins, buttons, and other debris from the filter and pump housing.
  • Check drain hose: Inspect the external drain hose for kinks or clogs. Ensure the standpipe height meets installation specs to prevent siphoning.
  • Inspect tub-to-pump hose: From the bottom or rear, check the large hose between the tub and pump for blockages. Remove and clean if necessary.
  • Test pump: With power disconnected, check the drain pump impeller for damage or binding. Use a multimeter to test the pump motor for continuity. Replace the drain pump assembly if open or seized.
