Washer-dryer will not start; door symbol flashes and cycle will not begin

Safety first: Unplug the appliance and turn off the water supply before any work. Do not bypass the door lock for testing while connected to mains.

Step-by-step checks:

• Inspect the door: Open and close the door firmly. Check that the latch hook on the door engages fully with the door lock on the cabinet. Look for cracked plastic or bent metal on the latch.
• Check for obstructions: Remove any clothing or foreign objects trapped between the door glass and gasket that may prevent full closure.
• Power reset: Disconnect power for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect and try a short cycle. Sometimes the PCB will clear a transient E01 after a reset.
• Access the door lock: Remove the front door seal clamp, peel back the gasket, and locate the door interlock on the cabinet. Verify the connector is fully seated and not burnt or corroded.
• Test the door lock: With power disconnected, use a multimeter to check continuity across the lock terminals when the door is closed (refer to Amica wiring diagram). If the lock coil is open or readings are out of spec, replace the door lock assembly.
• Inspect wiring to PCB: Trace the harness from the door lock to the main control module. Look for pinched, broken, or burnt wires and repair or replace as needed.
• If E01 persists after lock replacement: The main control module may not be sending or reading the lock signal correctly. At this point, professional diagnosis and possible PCB replacement is recommended.
