Possible Causes

Failed wash heater element, Faulty NTC temperature sensor, Loose or burnt heater wiring, Defective main control module heater relay

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the appliance. Heating components are live during operation and can cause electric shock.

  • Access the heater: On most Amica washer-dryer combos, the wash heater is mounted at the bottom of the tub from the rear. Remove the rear panel to expose the heater terminals.
  • Check wiring: Inspect the heater connectors and wiring harness for signs of burning, looseness, or corrosion. Repair or replace damaged connectors.
  • Test heater resistance: With a multimeter set to ohms, measure across the heater terminals. Typical values are around 20–30 Ω (check service manual for exact spec). Infinite resistance indicates an open heater that must be replaced.
  • Test NTC sensor: The NTC is usually mounted in or near the heater bracket. Disconnect it and measure resistance at room temperature; it should be within the range specified by Amica (commonly 20–30 kΩ at 20°C). If readings are far off or do not change with temperature, replace the sensor.
  • Replace faulty parts: To replace the heater, loosen the central nut, push the bolt inward to release the seal, and carefully pull the element out. Clean the seat and install the new heater with a new gasket, tightening the nut evenly.
  • If E05 remains: The control board heater relay or triac may be defective. This requires board-level diagnosis or replacement by a qualified technician.
