Possible Causes
Broken or slipped drive belt, Seized drum bearings, Faulty motor capacitor (if fitted), Defective drive motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before removing panels.
- Check drum by hand: Rotate the drum manually. If it is very stiff, noisy, or seized, suspect bearing or mechanical issues rather than electronics.
- Inspect drive belt: Remove the rear panel and check if the belt is on the motor and drum pulleys. If off or broken, replace with the correct Amica belt and ensure proper alignment.
- Check motor capacitor (if present): Some models use a start capacitor mounted near the motor. Inspect for bulging or leakage. Test capacitance with a meter and replace if out of spec.
- Test motor windings: Measure resistance across motor terminals. Open or shorted windings indicate a failed motor that must be replaced.
