Possible Causes
Faulty motor tachometer sensor, loose tachometer connector, damaged motor wiring harness, defective main control board tach input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the washer-dryer before removing any panels.
Steps to diagnose:
- Access the motor: Remove the rear panel. Locate the motor and the small tachometer module at the rear of the motor shaft.
- Check tach connector: Ensure the small 2–3 wire connector on the tach sensor is fully seated. Clean any oxidation and reseat.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the tach wires back to the main control board. Look for pinched, broken, or rubbed-through insulation. Repair or replace as needed.
- Test tach sensor: With the motor removed or belt off, connect a multimeter set to AC volts across the tach terminals. Manually spin the motor shaft; you should see a small AC voltage generated. If no voltage is produced, the tach sensor is faulty.
- Check control board: If the tach sensor tests good and wiring is intact, the fault may be on the control board tach input circuit, requiring board replacement.
Note: Running the machine with a faulty tachometer can cause uncontrolled spin speeds; do not bypass this sensor.
