Possible Causes
Blocked drain pump filter, clogged drain hose, failed drain pump motor, blocked pressure chamber causing incorrect empty signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the machine. Prepare towels and a shallow tray to catch water.
Clear blockages:
- Clean pump filter: Open the lower front access flap. Slowly unscrew the pump filter cap and allow water to drain into a tray. Remove debris (coins, lint, buttons) from the filter and pump impeller area. Ensure the impeller spins freely.
- Check drain hose: Inspect the external drain hose for kinks or clogs. Detach from the standpipe or sink trap and flush with water.
- Inspect pump wiring: With the lower panel removed, check the pump electrical connector for corrosion or loose fit. Reseat it.
- Test pump: With the machine unplugged, measure pump coil resistance (typically 150–300 Ω; check Ariston specs). If open or shorted, replace the pump.
- Pressure system: If the pump runs but F05 persists, clean the pressure hose and chamber as described for F04 to ensure the control board correctly detects an empty tub.
Note: After cleaning, run a rinse and spin to confirm proper draining.
