Possible Causes
Open-circuit heating element, faulty heater relay on main control board, loose heater wiring, NTC sensor misreading causing heater lockout
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance. Heating components are live at mains voltage when operating.
Diagnosis:
- Access heater: Remove rear panel. The heater is usually mounted in the lower part of the tub with two large terminals and an earth connection.
- Check resistance: Disconnect heater wires and measure resistance across the heater terminals. Typical values are 20–30 Ω (check Ariston specs). If open (OL), replace the heater.
- Inspect wiring: Check for burned connectors or loose spades at the heater and at the control board.
- NTC check: Verify the NTC sensor is within spec (see F03). A faulty NTC can cause the board to disable heating.
- Control board: If heater and NTC are good, the heater relay or triac on the PCB may be stuck or open. This requires board repair or replacement.
Note: Always refit the heater gasket correctly to avoid leaks after replacement.
