Possible Causes

Clogged drain pump filter, Blocked drain hose or standpipe, Foreign object in Asko drain pump impeller, Failed drain pump motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power. Water may spill when opening the filter—have towels and a shallow pan ready.

  • Access the pump filter: Open the lower service flap (front bottom) to reach the drain pump filter cap. Place a tray under it and slowly unscrew the cap to let water drain.
  • Clean the filter: Remove lint, coins, buttons, and debris from the filter and pump cavity. Spin the impeller with your finger; it should turn freely without grinding.
  • Check the drain hose: Inspect the external drain hose for kinks or clogs. Detach it from the standpipe or sink and flush it with water to ensure it is clear.
  • Test the pump: With power still off, check the pump wiring connector. If secure, use a multimeter to test the pump motor for continuity. An open circuit or seized impeller indicates the drain pump should be replaced.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the filter cap tightly, reposition the service flap, reconnect power, and run a drain or spin-only cycle to confirm operation.

If the pump runs but water still does not drain, the internal sump hose or tub outlet may be blocked, which usually requires partial disassembly by a technician.
