Possible Causes
Failed tub heating element, Faulty NTC temperature sensor, Loose or burnt heater wiring, Defective main control board heater relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing internal components. Heating circuits carry mains voltage.
- Confirm symptom: Run a hot wash cycle and feel the door glass after 15–20 minutes. If it remains cold and E05 appears, proceed with checks.
- Access heater terminals: Remove the rear panel to locate the tub heating element at the bottom of the drum. Inspect wiring for discoloration, burning, or loose connectors.
- Test the element: Disconnect the heater wires and measure resistance across the terminals with a multimeter. Typical values are 20–40 Ω (check Asko specs). Infinite resistance indicates a failed element that must be replaced.
- Check NTC sensor: The NTC (temperature sensor) is usually mounted near the heater. Test its resistance at room temperature and compare to service data. A shorted or open NTC will trigger E05.
- Inspect control board: If heater and NTC test good, the heater relay on the main control board may be faulty. Look for burnt solder joints. Board repair or replacement is a job for an experienced technician.
