Possible Causes
Dirty or coated drum moisture sensor bars, Broken moisture sensor wiring, Failed moisture sensor module, Control board sensor input fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing internal wiring.
- Clean sensor bars: Inside the drum, locate the two metal moisture sensor bars (often near the lint filter or on the drum front). Clean them thoroughly with a non-abrasive cleaner and a soft cloth to remove fabric softener residue.
- Check for damage: Inspect the bars for cracks or heavy wear. Ensure they are not loose.
- Inspect wiring: Access the backside of the sensor assembly (usually behind the front panel). Verify that the sensor wires are firmly connected and not broken.
- Test sensor circuit: With a multimeter, check continuity through the sensor when bridging the bars with a damp cloth. Lack of response indicates a failed sensor or wiring.
If E12 persists after cleaning and wiring checks, the sensor module or control board may require replacement by a professional.
