Possible Causes
Water leak into base pan triggering float switch, Loose tub seal or door gasket, Cracked internal hose, Over-sudsing causing overflow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance and turn off water supply. Be cautious of standing water and slippery floors.
- Inspect base pan: Remove the lower front or rear panel to access the base. If water is present, dry it thoroughly with towels or a wet/dry vacuum.
- Locate leak source: Run a short fill cycle while observing internal components. Look for drips from the door gasket, tub-to-pump hose, dispenser hoses, or valves.
- Correct over-sudsing: If excessive foam is present, you may be using too much or non-HE detergent. Run a rinse/spin cycle with no detergent to clear suds.
- Repair leaks: Tighten hose clamps, replace cracked hoses, or install a new door gasket or tub seal as needed.
- Reset sensor: Once the base is dry and leaks are fixed, the float switch will reset and E16 should clear.
