Possible Causes

Worn carbon brushes on motor (if fitted), Faulty motor tachometer sensor, Loose motor connector or damaged wiring harness, Defective motor or motor control circuit on PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the appliance. Be careful when working under or behind the machine; sharp edges may be present.

Step-by-step checks:

  • Access the motor: Remove the rear panel. Release the drive belt from the motor and drum pulley. Unbolt and remove the drive motor.
  • Inspect carbon brushes (if applicable): On universal motors, remove the brush holders and check brush length. If brushes are worn to less than ~1 cm or uneven, replace both motor carbon brushes.
  • Check tachometer: Inspect the tachometer coil at the rear of the motor. Ensure it is firmly attached and the connector is secure. Measure resistance across the tachometer; an open circuit indicates failure.
  • Wiring harness: Trace the motor wiring back to the main control module. Look for chafed insulation, broken conductors, or burnt connectors. Repair or replace as needed.
  • Reassembly and test: Refit the motor and belt, ensuring correct belt tension. Run a spin cycle without laundry. If E06 persists with a known-good motor and wiring, the motor control section of the PCB may be defective and require professional replacement.
