Possible Causes
Failed dryer heating element, Open thermal fuse or safety thermostat, Blocked air duct or lint buildup, Faulty dryer temperature sensor (NTC)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance. Dryer components can remain hot after use; allow time to cool.
Step-by-step checks:
- Access dryer components: Remove the top cover and, if necessary, the rear panel to reach the dryer heater assembly and air ducts.
- Clean air paths: Inspect the internal air ducting, fan housing, and lint traps for heavy lint buildup. Carefully vacuum and brush out debris to restore airflow.
- Test dryer heater: Disconnect the heater terminals and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed heater that must be replaced.
- Check thermal fuses/thermostats: Locate the thermal cut-out(s) mounted on or near the heater housing. Test for continuity; any open device must be replaced with the exact Balay-specified part. Investigate and correct overheating causes (blocked airflow) before replacement.
- Verify dryer NTC: Measure resistance of the dryer NTC sensor at room temperature and compare with Balay specifications. Replace if out of range.
- Re-test: After reassembly, run a drying-only program with a small load. If E08 returns, the control board's dryer relay or wiring may be defective and require professional service.
