Possible Causes

Failed dryer fan motor, Obstructed fan wheel, Severely blocked air ducts or condenser, Wiring fault to fan motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the unit to cool before accessing the fan or ducts.

  • Step 1 – Listen for fan operation: Start a drying cycle and listen (with covers on) for the fan running. If there is no fan noise, suspect a fan or control issue.
  • Step 2 – Access fan assembly: Remove the rear or top panel (model dependent) to locate the dryer fan housing. Check for lint build-up around the fan and in the ducts.
  • Step 3 – Check fan wheel: Rotate the fan by hand. It should spin freely without scraping. Remove any obstructions. If the shaft is loose or seized, replace the fan motor assembly.
  • Step 4 – Test fan motor: With power disconnected, measure resistance across the fan motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. Also inspect the wiring and connectors.
  • Step 5 – Clean ducts and condenser: Thoroughly clean the internal air channels and condenser (if accessible) to restore airflow.
  • Step 6 – PCB control: If the fan and wiring are good but the fan is not being energized, the PCB may be faulty and require professional service.
