Possible Causes
Failed wash heater element, Faulty NTC temperature sensor, Loose or burnt heater wiring, Defective main control PCB heater relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance and allow time for internal components to cool before touching the heater area.
- Check for obvious symptoms: If clothes are consistently cold at the end of a hot wash, suspect a heating issue even before E05 appears.
- Access heater: On many Belling washer-dryer combos, the wash heater is mounted at the rear of the drum. Remove the rear panel to expose the heater terminals and NTC sensor.
- Test heater element: With power off, disconnect the heater wires and measure resistance across the heater terminals. Typical values are 20–30 Ω. If open circuit or shorted to earth (test between each terminal and the metal casing), replace the heater.
- Test NTC sensor: Measure resistance of the NTC at room temperature (often 20–30 kΩ). Warm it gently and confirm resistance decreases smoothly. If readings are erratic or out of spec, replace the NTC sensor.
- Inspect wiring: Check for heat-damaged connectors or loose spades at the heater and NTC. Clean and tighten or replace terminals as needed.
- Control PCB: If heater and NTC are good but no voltage is supplied to the heater during a heating phase, the PCB heater relay or triac may be faulty. PCB replacement is a level-5 repair and should be done by a technician.
