Possible Causes
Faulty motor tachometer coil, Loose motor connector, Worn carbon brushes (on brushed motors), Defective motor control circuit on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect mains power before accessing the motor or underside of the appliance.
- Check drum movement: Rotate the drum by hand. It should move smoothly without grinding. Excessive stiffness may indicate bearing or mechanical issues rather than an electrical motor fault.
- Access motor: Remove the rear panel of the Belling washer-dryer to access the drive motor at the bottom of the tub.
- Inspect wiring: Check the motor plug and harness for loose connections, burning, or broken wires. Reseat the connector firmly.
- Check carbon brushes (if fitted): On brushed motors, remove the brush holders and inspect the carbon length. If less than ~1 cm or unevenly worn, replace both brushes with compatible Belling motor brushes.
- Test tachometer: Locate the tach coil at the rear of the motor. Measure its resistance (often 100–200 Ω). If open circuit, replace the motor or tach assembly (depending on design).
- Control PCB: If motor and tach test OK but E06 persists, the motor drive circuit on the main PCB may be faulty. This requires specialist diagnosis and PCB replacement.
