Possible Causes
Shorted motor windings, Shorted motor suppression capacitor (if fitted), Damaged motor harness, Failed motor driver on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power and do not repeatedly reset a tripping breaker; this indicates a potential short.
- Visual inspection: Remove the rear panel and inspect the motor for signs of burning, melted insulation, or a burnt smell.
- Check harness: Look for crushed or rubbed-through wires between the motor and PCB, especially where the harness passes near the drum or chassis edges. Repair with proper insulated connectors or replace the harness.
- Test motor: With a multimeter, measure resistance between each motor terminal and the motor casing. Any low resistance (near 0 Ω) indicates a short to earth; replace the motor.
- Suppression components: If your Belling model uses an external motor capacitor or interference suppressor, inspect it for bulging or leakage and replace if suspect.
- PCB damage: If the motor is sound but E09 persists, the motor driver stage on the PCB may be damaged. This is a high-difficulty repair; replace the PCB via a service engineer.
