Possible Causes
Worn or glazed drive belt, Misaligned motor or drum pulley, Foreign object between drum and tub, Early-stage bearing wear
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect mains power before removing the rear panel.
- Inspect belt: Remove the rear panel and check the belt for cracks, glazing, or fraying. Replace if worn.
- Check pulleys: Ensure the motor and drum pulleys are aligned and secure. Tighten any loose bolts.
- Foreign objects: Spin the drum by hand and listen for scraping. If suspected, inspect the gap between drum and tub for bra wires or coins and remove via the heater opening or sump hose.
- Bearings: If the squeal is accompanied by play in the drum (lift up at the front), bearings may be failing and require tub/bearing replacement.
