Possible Causes
Partially blocked drain pump, Obstructed sump hose between tub and pump, Drain hose installed too high or with airlock, Weak or failing drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and prepare for water spillage when opening the filter or hoses.
- Clean pump filter thoroughly: Open the lower service flap, remove the drain filter, and clean out all debris. Check inside the pump housing for small objects (coins, hairpins).
- Inspect sump hose: With the machine unplugged and tilted back slightly, locate the large black hose from the tub to the pump. Remove the clamp and inspect for socks or other obstructions. Clean and reinstall securely.
- Check drain hose installation: Ensure the drain hose height and routing follow Brandt’s installation guide. The end should not be submerged and should not exceed the maximum height specified.
- Test pump operation: Run a drain-only program and listen. If the pump is noisy, intermittent, or weak, replace the drain pump.
