Possible Causes
Defective NTC sensor on wash heater, Loose or corroded NTC connector, Damaged wiring harness to NTC, Main control board analog input fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance and allow time for internal components to cool.
- Access NTC sensor: Remove the rear panel to locate the wash heater and its NTC sensor, usually inserted into the heater bracket or tub wall.
- Check connector: Ensure the NTC plug is firmly seated and free of corrosion. Clean and reseat if necessary.
- Measure NTC resistance: At room temperature, measure resistance across the NTC terminals. Compare with Brandt specifications (commonly tens of kΩ). If open, shorted, or far out of range, replace the NTC sensor.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the harness from the NTC to the main control board. Repair any damaged wires.
- Control board check: If a known-good NTC and wiring still produce D13, the main control board may have a faulty sensor input and require replacement.
