Possible Causes
Dirty or coated moisture sensor bars, Failed dryer thermistor, Loose wiring to moisture sensor, Faulty main control moisture circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before cleaning internal sensor bars.
Steps:
- Clean moisture sensor bars: Locate the metal sensor bars inside the drum (usually near the lint filter area). Clean them with a soft cloth and a bit of rubbing alcohol to remove fabric softener residue.
- Test timed dry: Run a timed dry cycle. If the unit heats and runs for the full time, but auto cycles end early, the moisture sensing system is likely at fault.
- Inspect wiring: Access the front panel and check the harness connections to the moisture sensor and dryer thermistor. Reseat connectors.
When to call a technician: If cleaning and wiring checks do not resolve code 13, the thermistor or control board may require replacement.
