Possible Causes

Defective door interlock switch, Broken or misaligned door latch hook, Wiring harness issue between door lock and main PCB, Faulty main control board relay for door lock

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the appliance and turn off the water supply before any disassembly. Do not bypass the door lock for testing while the machine is powered.

Step-by-step checks:

  • Inspect the door and latch: Open and close the door firmly. Check the metal/plastic latch hook on the door for cracks, bending, or looseness. If damaged, replace the door latch hook.
  • Check the door seal area: Ensure no clothing, coins, or debris are trapped around the door opening or gasket preventing full closure.
  • Access the door lock (interlock): Remove the front retaining band of the door gasket and gently pull the gasket back near the lock area. Unscrew the door lock assembly from the front panel.
  • Test the door lock: With a multimeter set to continuity, test the lock terminals according to a Candy wiring diagram (usually 3 terminals: common, lock, and sense). If the lock coil is open or continuity is not as specified, replace the door lock assembly.
  • Inspect wiring: Check the harness from the door lock to the main PCB for broken wires, burn marks, or loose connectors. Reseat all connectors firmly.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the lock, gasket, and retaining band. Plug in the machine and test a short wash cycle.

When to call a technician: If the door lock and wiring are good, the fault may be on the main control board (relay or triac). Board-level diagnosis and replacement should be done by a qualified technician.
