Possible Causes
Leaking door gasket, Split drain hose or sump hose, Loose hose clamp on tub or pump, Cracked tub or detergent drawer housing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance and turn off water supply. Be prepared for water on the floor when moving the machine.
Step-by-step checks:
- Inspect base tray: Many Candy models have a float switch in the base. Tilt the machine slightly and look for water in the base tray. Mop up all water and dry thoroughly.
- Run a visual leak test: With panels removed and the machine unplugged, fill the drum manually with a few liters of water using a jug. Look for drips around the door gasket, sump hose, pump, and rear tub seam.
- Check hoses and clamps: Tighten any loose hose clamps. Replace any hose that shows cracks, bulges, or pinholes.
- Inspect detergent drawer area: Pull out the drawer and check for cracks in the housing or blocked dispenser channels causing overflow. Clean thoroughly.
- Reassemble and test: After repairs, run a short wash while observing for leaks. Ensure the base tray remains dry so the float switch resets.
When to call a technician: Cracked outer tubs or severe structural leaks usually require professional replacement of major components.
