Safety first: Unplug the machine before attempting to manually unlock the door. Be prepared for hot water or steam if the cycle just ended.

• Wait and cool: Allow 3–5 minutes after the cycle ends; some models delay unlocking until the drum stops and temperature drops.
• Manual release: Many Costway combos have a manual door lock release accessible behind the lower front panel or gasket. Pull the release tab or lever gently to open the door.
• Inspect latch and strike: Once open, check the door strike and latch opening for damage or foreign objects. Clean and realign as needed.
• Check door lock assembly: Remove the front gasket clamp and access the door lock. Inspect for broken plastic parts or burnt connectors.
• Test lock coil (advanced): With a multimeter, measure resistance of the lock coil. An open circuit indicates a failed lock that must be replaced.
• Replace door lock: Install a new Costway-compatible door lock assembly if mechanical or electrical failure is found. Refit the gasket securely to prevent leaks.
