Safety first: Unplug the unit and keep towels or a shallow pan ready to catch water before opening any drain components.

• Inspect drain hose: Check the entire length of the drain hose at the back of the machine. Straighten kinks and ensure the hose is not inserted too far into the standpipe, which can cause siphoning or restriction.
• Clean drain pump filter (if accessible): Many Costway combos have a small access panel at the front or rear. Open it and slowly unscrew the drain filter cap, allowing water to drain into a pan. Remove lint, coins, and debris from the filter and housing.
• Check for impeller blockage: With the filter removed, reach carefully into the pump housing and feel for obstructions around the impeller. Remove any foreign objects.
• Test drain pump operation: After reassembling, run a short drain/spin cycle. If you hear the pump humming but no water moves, the impeller may be damaged or the pump is weak and needs replacement.
• Electrical check (advanced): With power disconnected, access the drain pump from the bottom or rear. Inspect wiring harnesses for burns or loose connectors. Use a multimeter to check pump coil resistance; an open circuit indicates a failed pump.
• If E2 remains: Replace the drain pump assembly. If a new pump does not resolve the issue, the main control board or wiring harness may be faulty and require a technician.
