Possible Causes

Closed or partially closed water supply valves, Clogged inlet screens on water inlet valve, Failed water inlet valve coil, Faulty water level (pressure) sensor or blocked pressure hose

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit and turn off both hot and cold water supply valves before working on hoses or valves.

  • Check water supply: Verify both hot and cold faucets feeding the Danby combo are fully open and that household water pressure is normal. Try running a nearby sink to confirm pressure.
  • Inspect inlet hoses: Pull the unit forward, ensure hoses are not kinked or crushed. Disconnect hoses at the back of the washer and check the small metal screens inside the water inlet valve ports. Clean any debris with a soft brush.
  • Test water flow: Briefly open the supply valves with hoses disconnected and aim into a bucket to confirm strong flow from both hot and cold lines.
  • Check water inlet valve: With power still disconnected, visually inspect the Danby water inlet valve assembly for cracks, corrosion, or burnt connectors. If coils are open (no continuity) or valve is leaking, replace the entire valve assembly.
  • Inspect pressure hose and sensor: Remove the top panel, locate the small rubber pressure hose from the tub to the water level sensor. Ensure it is not kinked, split, or blocked with soap residue. Clear any blockage and reseat firmly.
  • Reset and test: Reconnect hoses, restore water and power, and run a small load. If E1 returns after confirming supply and cleaning screens, the inlet valve or pressure sensor is likely faulty and should be replaced.
