Possible Causes
Blocked condenser or lint filter, Failed dryer fan motor, Stuck or failed exhaust thermostat, Restricted internal air duct
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool fully before servicing. Surfaces may be hot.
- Clean lint filter: Remove and thoroughly clean the lint filter. Wash with warm water and dry completely if it is clogged with fabric softener residue.
- Clean condenser and ducts: Access the condenser (on ventless models) and air ducts. Remove lint and dust buildup using a soft brush and vacuum.
- Check dryer fan: Locate the dryer blower/fan motor. Ensure the fan wheel spins freely and is not obstructed. Replace the fan motor if it does not run or is noisy and seized.
- Inspect thermostats: Test the exhaust and high-limit thermostats for continuity. Replace any that are open at room temperature.
- Reassemble and test: After cleaning and replacing faulty parts, reassemble panels, restore power, and run a short dry cycle to confirm normal operation and no E12 code.
