Possible Causes
Faulty motor tachometer sensor, Loose tach wiring at motor or PCB, Damaged motor connector, Defective main control board speed circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before accessing the motor or control board.
- Access motor: Remove the rear panel to expose the drive motor. Locate the tachometer sensor at the rear of the motor (often integrated).
- Inspect wiring: Check the tach sensor wires and connector for damage, corrosion, or looseness. Reseat the connector.
- Test tach sensor: Using a multimeter, measure resistance across the tach sensor terminals. Compare to Danby specifications. An open or shorted sensor indicates failure.
- Check motor connector: Ensure the main motor connector is fully seated and not heat-damaged.
- Control board: If the tach sensor and wiring are good but E14 persists, the main PCB speed sensing circuit may be defective and require replacement.
