Possible Causes
Seized drain pump, Jammed motor due to foreign object, Shorted motor winding, Shorted pump winding
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before inspecting the motor or pump. Do not attempt to run the unit with covers removed.
- Check drum movement: Spin the drum by hand. If it is very stiff or grinding, inspect for foreign objects between drum and tub.
- Inspect drain pump: Access the drain pump from the front or bottom. Remove the filter and check for objects blocking the impeller. Ensure the impeller turns freely.
- Test pump motor: Use a multimeter to check pump motor resistance. A very low resistance or short to ground indicates a shorted pump that must be replaced.
- Test drive motor: Measure motor winding resistance and check for shorts to chassis ground. Replace the motor if windings are shorted.
- Reset and test: After clearing jams and replacing any shorted components, restore power and run a rinse/spin cycle to confirm E15 is cleared.
