Possible Causes
Clogged drain pump filter, Blocked drain hose or standpipe, Failed drain pump motor, Loose or damaged wiring to drain pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance. Water may spill when opening filters or hoses; keep towels and a shallow pan ready.
- Access the drain filter: On most Danby combos, the drain pump filter is behind a small lower front access panel. Open it and slowly unscrew the filter cap, allowing water to drain into a pan.
- Clean the filter: Remove lint, coins, buttons, and debris from the filter and pump cavity. Spin the pump impeller with your finger; it should turn freely without grinding.
- Inspect drain hose: Check the rear drain hose for kinks, clogs, or freezing (in cold environments). Detach from the standpipe and blow through it or flush with water to confirm it is clear.
- Check pump wiring: With power still off, remove the lower front panel (if applicable) and inspect the drain pump wiring harness for loose connectors or burnt contacts. Reseat connectors firmly.
- Test the pump: If you have a multimeter, test the pump motor for continuity. An open circuit indicates a failed pump that must be replaced.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the filter, close the access panel, reconnect the drain hose, restore power, and run a drain/spin cycle. If E2 persists and hoses/filters are clear, replace the drain pump assembly.
