Possible Causes
Load bunched on one side of drum, Mixed heavy and light items causing imbalance, Worn suspension springs or dampers, Unit not leveled on floor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not reach into the drum until the unit has fully stopped and the door is unlocked.
- Redistribute the load: Open the door, separate tangled items, and spread laundry evenly around the drum. Remove a few heavy items if the load is too large.
- Sort by weight: Avoid mixing heavy items (jeans, towels) with very light items (shirts, underwear) in the same load. Run similar-weight items together.
- Level the appliance: Use a bubble level on top of the Danby combo. Adjust the front and rear leveling feet until the unit is stable and does not rock.
- Check suspension: If the machine still bangs or walks even with balanced loads, inspect internal suspension springs and shock absorbers (dampers) for wear, oil leakage, or breakage. Replace worn suspension components.
- Run a test spin: Run a spin-only cycle with the drum empty. Excessive vibration with no load indicates a mechanical suspension or leveling issue that must be corrected.
