Possible Causes
Failed dryer heater element, Open thermal fuse or high-limit thermostat, Blocked condenser or lint passages, Faulty dryer temperature sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance and allow it to cool completely before accessing dryer components.
- Confirm no heat: Run a drying cycle for 10–15 minutes and carefully feel the door area. If it stays cool and E8 appears, a heating fault is likely.
- Clean lint paths: Remove the lower front or rear panel (depending on model) and clean lint from the condenser, blower housing, and air ducts. Blocked airflow can overheat and trip safety devices.
- Check thermal fuse and thermostats: Locate the dryer heater housing. Test the thermal fuse and high-limit thermostat for continuity with a multimeter. Replace any open components.
- Test dryer heater: Measure resistance across the dryer heater element terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed heater that must be replaced.
- Inspect dryer NTC sensor: Check the dryer temperature sensor wiring and resistance. Replace if out of specification.
- Reassemble and test: After replacing faulty parts and cleaning airflow paths, reassemble panels, restore power, and run a timed dry cycle to verify heat and clear the E8 code.
