Possible Causes
Failed door interlock mechanism, Control board not sending unlock signal, Residual water in drum triggering safety lock, Mechanical jam in latch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Switch off and unplug the appliance. Ensure drum is not full of hot water before forcing any release.
- 1. Wait and power reset: Allow 2–5 minutes after cycle end. Then unplug for 5 minutes and reconnect; some locks release after power cycling.
- 2. Check for water: If water is visible through the door, drain via the pump filter and hose before attempting to open.
- 3. Emergency release: Many De Dietrich models have a manual door release near the pump filter (a pull cord or lever). Access the lower flap and pull the release to open the door.
- 4. Replace lock: If the lock repeatedly sticks, replace the door lock assembly as it may be mechanically worn or heat-damaged.
Note: Do not pry the door with tools; this can damage the cabinet and glass.
