Possible Causes

Defective door interlock switch, Broken or misaligned door latch hook, Wiring harness issue between door lock and main PCB, Faulty main control board (power module)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the appliance from the mains and close the water taps before any work. Do not bypass the door lock for testing with the machine powered.

Step-by-step checks:

  • 1. Inspect the door and latch: Open and close the door firmly. Check that the metal or plastic latch hook on the door is not cracked, bent, or loose. If damaged, the door will not engage the interlock and must be replaced.
  • 2. Check for obstruction: Look for clothing or foreign objects trapped around the door seal that may prevent full closure. Remove any obstruction and try again.
  • 3. Access the door interlock: Remove the front door seal clamp (spring band) and gently pull back the bellows to access the door lock assembly on the cabinet front. Disconnect the appliance from power first.
  • 4. Test the interlock: Disconnect the wiring connector from the door lock. Using a multimeter, test continuity across the lock terminals when the door is closed (refer to the wiring diagram usually in the kick plate or back panel). If the lock coil is open circuit or the switch does not close, replace the door lock assembly.
  • 5. Inspect wiring: Check the harness from the door lock to the main control board for broken conductors, burnt connectors, or loose plugs. Reseat all connectors firmly.
  • 6. Control board check: If the door lock and wiring are good but E01 persists, the main PCB (power module) may not be sending the lock signal. Visual inspection for burnt components is possible, but replacement of the PCB is typically required and should be done by a qualified technician.

When to stop: If you smell burning, see scorch marks on the PCB, or are not comfortable testing live circuits, stop and contact an authorized De Dietrich service center.
