Drain Pump or Drainage Failure
Washer-dryer does not drain; water remains in drum and E03 is displayed

Possible Causes
Blocked drain pump filter, Obstructed drain hose or standpipe, Foreign object jammed in drain pump impeller, Failed drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power. Prepare towels and a shallow tray to catch water.
- 1. Access the pump filter: Open the lower front service flap (kick panel). Place a tray under the drain pump cover. Slowly unscrew the filter cap to let water drain out.
- 2. Clean the filter: Remove lint, coins, buttons, and other debris from the filter and pump cavity. Check that the impeller turns freely by hand. If it is seized or very loose on the shaft, the pump may need replacement.
- 3. Check drain hose: Inspect the external drain hose for kinks or crushing. Detach it from the standpipe or sink connection and flush it with water to ensure it is clear.
- 4. Internal blockage: If E03 persists, remove the rear or bottom panel (depending on model) to access the full drain circuit. Check the sump hose from tub to pump for socks or other obstructions. Remove hose clamps carefully and resecure them properly afterward.
- 5. Test the pump: With the machine unplugged, disconnect the pump wiring and measure coil resistance (commonly 150–300 Ω). An open circuit or burnt smell indicates a failed pump. Replace the drain pump assembly with a compatible De Dietrich part.
Warning: Do not run the machine with the pump partially disassembled; this can cause leaks and electrical hazards.
