Possible Causes
Worn carbon brushes on universal motor, Faulty tachometer coil on motor, Loose motor connector or wiring harness, Defective motor triac or drive circuit on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance before accessing the motor. Beware of sharp cabinet edges.
- 1. Access the motor: Remove the rear panel. The drive motor is mounted under the drum with a belt connecting to the pulley.
- 2. Check the belt: Ensure the drive belt is intact and properly tensioned. If broken or off the pulley, refit or replace it. A loose belt can cause motor errors.
- 3. Inspect carbon brushes (if fitted): Remove the motor from the machine. Take out the brush holders and check brush length. If brushes are worn below ~1 cm or uneven, replace both with compatible De Dietrich motor brushes.
- 4. Test tachometer coil: On the rear of the motor is a small tachometer coil. Measure its resistance (typically 100–200 Ω). An open circuit indicates a faulty tachometer; the motor assembly usually must be replaced.
- 5. Wiring and PCB: Check the motor connector and harness for heat damage or loose pins. If the motor and wiring are good but E06 persists, the main control board motor drive (triac or inverter stage) may be faulty and require professional repair.
Note: After brush replacement, the motor may spark slightly during initial runs; this usually settles after a short bedding-in period.
